Pirates score 2 in 9th, but comeback falls short

SAN DIEGO -- Trevor Williams has watched hundreds of games from the stands at Petco Park. Growing up in San Diego, Williams attended three or four games a week in the seats behind home plate where his father, Richard, was surrounded by family on Saturday night.

Williams finally got to scale the mound at his hometown ballpark, but the unforgettable experience resulted in a tough loss for the Pirates. Williams allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings, and Pittsburgh stranded the tying run on third base after rallying against Padres closer Brad Hand in a 4-3 defeat.
