Pirates reportedly reach deal with Kevin Kramer

Jim Callis is tweeting that the Pirates have reached a deal with second round pick Kevin Kramer. According to Callis, the deal calls for a bonus of $850,000. The slot value for the 62nd pick is $994,800, so the Pirates saved $144,800 in pool money.

Kramer hit 323/423/476 this year as the second-best hitter (behind Ty Moore, also a Pirates draftee) at UCLA. He played third base in 2013, then missed 2014 due to labrum surgery. This year he played short and the Pirates drafted him as a shortstop. How exactly they'll get him time at the position remains to be seen, as they also have top pick Kevin Newman slated to go to Morgantown.
