OAKLAND, Calif. — There was a point in the eighth inning Friday night when Josh Harrison shot a look toward his double-play partner Jordy Mercer. On the mound at Oakland Alameda Coliseum, right-hander Arquimedes Caminero was blazing through the middle of the Oakland Athletics order.
“Me and Jordy looked at each other, like, yeah, he’s just going to throw all fastballs,” Harrison recalled after the Pirates’ 7-3 win Friday night. “You could tell. [To the hitters] we say, ‘Good luck.’”
Caminero struck out the side on 11 pitches — 10 fastballs and a splitter that buckled Josh Reddick’s knees.
