Pirates recall Josh Harrison from rehab assignment

The Pirates recalled infielder Josh Harrison from his rehab assignment with Class AAA Indianapolis Friday and designated right-hander Josh Wall for assignment.

Harrison, the opening-day third baseman and leadoff man, injured his left thumb sliding into second base July 5 and had surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He batted .279 with a .313 on-base percentage in 75 games before being placed on the disabled list.

With Harrison on the disabled list, the Pirates acquired third baseman Aramis Ramirez in late July. After a slow start, Ramirez has heated up lately, hitting .340 with 13 RBIs in his past 14 games.
