Justin Meis had a start on Tuesday that would normally get him some Player of the Week consideration. He went seven shutout innings on three hits, two walks and six strikeouts. You don’t get many outings of seven (or more) shutout innings throughout the minor league season. That Tuesday start was impressive…unless you compare it to his Sunday start. While throwing a total of 75 pitches, Meis retired all 21 batters he faced in his second outing. He struck out seven batters and he threw 50 of those 75 pitches for strikes. When you throw seven shutout innings, you get Player of the Week consideration.
