Sean Sullivan led the Altoona Curve to a 4-1 victory on Thursday, pitching seven shutout innings against Akron. This was the longest outing of the season for the right-hander, and the second time this week that Altoona got seven shutout frames from their starter.
Sullivan has a 3.12 ERA in 34.2 innings this year, returning to Altoona rotation for the second season. He’s not a big strikeout guy, with 27 so far this season. However, Sullivan doesn’t allow a lot of walks or hits, limiting opponents to a 1.13 WHIP. He is helped by deception from a lower arm slow.
