Carlos Jimenez pitched five shutout innings for the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday night. The start extended a hot streak for the 22-year-old right-hander, who now has a 1.71 ERA in 26.1 innings since the start of July.
Jimenez has one of the best changeups in the system, and that was working for him on Saturday. He threw the pitch 22 times, getting nine whiffs on ten swings, with three called strikes, leading to a 55% called and swinging strike rate. His fastball sat 94.3 MPH, touching 96.1, and had two whiffs on 16 swings, with ten called strikes (34% CSW).
