On this edition of the Pirates’ Prospect Update series, we take a look at newly acquired Nick Yorke, and his journey to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
A former first round pick, Yorke had committed to play baseball at the University of Arizona, before the Boston Red Sox selected him with the 17th overall pick in 2020. Because of the cancelation of the Minor League season during the Covid-Pandemic, Yorke didn't debut for the Red Sox organization until the fall of 2020, when he took part in their fall instructional league.
2024 saw him start the season with Double-A Portland, before seeing a promotion to Triple-A Worcester after just 45 games.
