Pirates players sent 400 pizzas and other Italian food to workers at Allegheny General Hospital Monday afternoon.
The players wanted to support local small businesses as well as say thank you to the front line healthcare providers, so they purchased 300 pizzas from Slice on Broadway, located at PNC Park, as well as 300 pizzas and 10 large trays of pasta from Pizzeria Davide, which is near the Strip District.
The players organized the gesture through the team group text.
"We want to stay connected to Pittsburgh," Jameson Taillon told DK Pittsburgh Sports. "The fans and people of the city have been so great to us.
