There is probably no one in the Pirates organization that is more eager to start the new season than the 25 year-old ace of the starting rotation, Gerrit Cole. The last time Cole took the mound was a crisp October evening in front of a packed PNC Park in the disappointing Wild Card loss to the rival Chicago Cubs. In that game, Cole was outshined by the eventual Cy Young Award Winner in Jake Arrieta. Uncharacteristically, Cole was not the dominant pitcher that we had seen for a majority of the 2015 season, and surrendered four runs in just five innings of work.
