Left-handed pitcher Nik Turley has been placed on the 60-day disabled list. Turley was a waiver pickup by the Pittsburgh Pirates back in November last year. He was suspended by Major League Baseball for 80 games back in January, after testing positive for Ipamorelin, which is considered a performance enhancing drug under MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. That suspension ended after last night's game.
Turley has been down at Pirate City and was throwing bullpens up until early June. When he didn't start a rehab assignment 15 days before his suspension ended, I checked back in on him and I was told that he wasn't throwing.
