The Pirates today placed outfielder Andrew Lambo on the 15-day disabled list and called up Steve Lombardozzi from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lambo’s DL stint, retroactive to Monday, is due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He has only one hit in 25 plate appearances this season.
The Pirates acquired Lombardozzi in an offseason trade with the Orioles. The switch hitter, who can play both the infield and outfield, is second in the International League in batting with a .379 average.
