Ray Searage, the Pirates pitching wizard, isn’t going anywhere, general manager Neal Huntington told the Post-Gazette’s Ron Cook.
Searage, the upbeat 60-year-old pitching coach known for bringing broken-down pitchers back from the trash heap to the big leagues, was in the final year of his contract when the Pirates headed down to spring training in February.
Both Huntington and Searage recently declined to comment on whether a new agreement had been reached.
“We don’t talk about our contracts,” Huntington said.
But what the general manager did say was telling.
“You can say I said with conviction that this won't be Ray’s last year with us,” Huntington told Cook.
