Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes made history in his most recent start against the St. Louis Cardinals, but it wasn’t the right side of it.
Skenes surrendered five earned runs as the Pirates lost 5-3 to the Cardinals, missing an opportunity to grab a win with him on the mound.
Skenes spoke with reporters after the game about his performance.
“It’s not like they hit the ball into the river or anything like that,” Skenes told the Associated Press. “They just found some holes and I got behind in some counts and kind of let them get good swings off.
