Here's something you don't see every day. Deolis Guerra is a Pirate again, two days after being claimed off waivers by the Indians. It turns out that Guerra had left knee inflammation, so the Indians were able to rescind their waiver claim. Guerra instead returns to the Pirates and goes on the 15-day disabled list.
To create roster space, the Pirates have designated Wilfredo Boscan for assignment. Boscan's main claim to fame no doubt will be the fact that the Pirates called him up three times without ever using him in a game. It's clear he was just acting as pitching depth and wasn't in their long-term plans, as they dfa'd him despite the fact that he has two options left, not including this year.
