Surely, Pirates newcomer Michael Morse was wracked with emotions Friday as he prepared to start at first base against his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“It’s tough, man, having to face my old teammates,” Morse said.
Morse’s remarks were made tongue-in-cheek, of course, as he never reported to Los Angeles last week after the Dodgers acquired him July 29 from the Miami Marlins in a 13-player deal. He drove to the airport, heard from his agent another trade was in the works and drove back home.
Morse was swapped to the Pirates July 31 for outfielder Jose Tabata.
