The Pirates are keeping the band together.
The team agreed to contract extensions Friday with its entire major league coaching staff, including pitching coach Ray Searage, that will last through 2017.
“I like having them back,” manager Clint Hurdle said. “I believe our players like having them back. There’s been continuity. We’ve all grown together, the experience in that room.”
The nine coaches that received extensions were Searage, bench coach Dave Jauss, assistant Brad Fischer, first-base coach Nick Leyva, third-base coach Rick Sofield, hitting coach Jeff Branson, assistant hitting coach Jeff Livesey, bullpen coach Euclides Rojas and bullpen catcher Heberto Andrade.
