Pirates notebook: Team plans to ease Kang back into starting role

The Pirates plan to ease infielder Jung Ho Kang (knee) back into an everyday starting role once he returns from his rehab assignment at Class AAA Indianapolis.

General manager Neal Huntington said Kang likely will start two of every three days early on as he readjust to the rigor and speed of life in the majors.

“That was part of the thought process as we signed David Freese,” Huntington said. “How do we work Jung Ho back into this without asking too much of him? I cannot overemphasize the traumatic nature of the injury he sustained.
