Requiring fresh relievers, the Pirates on Saturday recalled lefty Cory Luebke and purchased the contract of righty Curtis Partch from Class AAA Indianapolis.
In 27u2154 innings in Indianapolis, the 29-year-old Partch struck out 32 batters and had a 1.30 ERA. In 29 at-bats by left-handed hitters, Partch did not allow a single hit.
“I have a pretty good feel for my slider and changeup, so that helped out a lot with lefties too,” Partch said. “That changeup was big for me, getting that more consistent helped out a lot.”
Partch previously appeared in the majors in 2014 with the Cincinnati Reds.
