MILWAUKEE — The Pirates on Friday promoted outfielder Jaff Decker from Class AAA Indianapolis.
Decker, a 25-year-old left-handed batter, has not appeared in the majors this season. He hit .275 with a .364 on-base percentage and three home runs in 211 plate appearances with Indianapolis in 2015.
Decker takes the roster spot of right-hander Wilfredo Boscan, who was optioned to Indianapolis Monday.
The move leaves the Pirates with only one bench player – Sean Rodriguez – capable of playing the middle infield, something manager Clint Hurdle has tried to avoid in the past.
