Neil Walker returned to the lineup Tuesday night after pain in his right hip and core kept him from starting the previous five games.
“Not 100 percent,” Walker said, “but close enough.”
The pain in Walker’s midsection originated, he said, when his hip locked up on him. The discomfort radiated to his stomach, close to the spot where Walker had his appendectomy a year ago.
“For whatever reason it wouldn’t subside,” Walker said. “We thought maybe it was an ab strain or something along those lines. I couldn’t get to the point where I was comfortable enough to run and swing a bat and all those things.
