Pirates notebook: Catching depth chart reaches further down line

Three months ago, the Pirates catching depth chart went like this: Francisco Cervelli, Chris Stewart and then Elias Diaz. But Monday, Diaz still was rehabilitating in Bradenton, Fla., Stewart walked into the clubhouse with his left knee wrapped and Cervelli’s left hand was in a cast.

The remaining options are journeyman Erik Kratz and rookie Jacob Stallings. They got a crash course in handling the Pirates pitching staff the past couple of days, and Kratz, 0 for 15 in his first five games with the team, started a series opener Monday against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park.
