CHICAGO — Francisco Cervelli rejoined the Pirates for the second leg of the road trip Friday as the discomfort after his hand surgery continued to subside.
“The pain was bad,” he said. “The next three days [after the surgery] was crazy pain. Now I’m getting better and now I can sleep well.”
Cervelli had surgery June 11 to remove a broken hook of the hamate bone, a small bone in the palm of his left hand below his pinky. Cervelli broke the bone June 10 on a swing and miss.
“Something weird there,” Cervelli said.
