Pirates notebook: After extra rest, Taillon ready to increase career-high workload

CINCINNATI — Jameson Taillon can tell the difference. The 88 major league innings have a more intense effect on his body than the 61u2154 innings in Class AAA did, and not just because the former followed the latter.

“I got a little more sore early on in my career in the big leagues as opposed to [Class AAA] adrenaline and stuff,” Taillon said.

When Taillon returns to the rotation today against the Cincinnati Reds, he will further increase his career-high workload. His 149u2154 innings already are more than he has thrown in any pro season.
