Ivan Nova and Patrick Corbin were locked in an old-fashioned pitchers’ duel, and for most of Friday’s game between the Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks, it was unclear who would emerge victorious — or even score first.
In fact, both teams would require extra innings to do so. It would take a pair of throwing errors for both teams to get on the board, and eventually, the Diamondbacks came out victorious, as they beat the Pirates, 2-1, in 13 innings at PNC Park. The winning run scored on an RBI single in the top of the 13th off Tyler Glasnow.
