According to the MiLB transactions page, the Pittsburgh Pirates have lost right-handed pitcher Luis Oviedo on waivers to Cleveland. He was designated for assignment last week when the Pirates added Chase De Jong to the big league roster. The 22-year-old Oviedo was selected in the 2020 Rule 5 draft and spent the season with the Pirates last year, seeing sporadic work at the back of the bullpen. He had an ankle injury in Spring Training this year and did some brief rehab work Bradenton and Altoona before his DFA, pitching a total of 3.2 innings this year.
