Things did not begin well Saturday evening for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The first three batters reached for the Toronto Blue Jays against Pirates starter, Johan Oviedo. It was 1-0 before Oviedo got two outs, but then he gave up back-to-back doubles for an early 4-0 deficit.
In the third inning, the Jays strung together some more hits — with a Rodolfo Castro error mixed in — that pushed their lead to 7-0.
The Pirates offense has really fallen off lately, and this game wasn’t very different. Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios kept the Pirates hitless until the fifth inning, when Ke’Bryan Hayes finally singled to right field.
