Matt Harvey, the one called “The Dark Night,” melted in the Pittsburgh sunlight Saturday afternoon. The New York Mets ace entered the day with a 16-inning scoreless streak, and then he left after the Pirates tagged him for seven runs in four innings.
It was the shortest outing of the 26-year-old Harvey’s career, and the most runs allowed in 45 major league starts. He served up six hits, two walks, two wild pitches and two no-doubt homers to Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez.
