BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates have played third baseman Jung Ho Kang on the restricted list, according to the major league transaction page. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Kang, 29, last week received a suspended sentence in his DUI case — he previously pled guilty to his third DUI in Seoul, South Korea — and he has not yet received his United States visa. He has already missed the first month of Pirates spring training.
Players on the restricted list do not count on the 25- or 40-man rosters. It is unclear whether Kang will be paid while on the list.
