Just a season after third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes was the recipient of the Gold Glove Award for his defensive efforts at third base, Jared Triolo is now a National League finalist for the award as a utility player.
Triolo was set to have a breakout year after finishing 2023 hot at the plate and primed to be an everyday starter in 2024. Of course though, that idea did not go exactly as it was planned out. Triolo did make the Opening Day start as the Pirates’ second-baseman, but with his own inconsistencies coupled with other’s injuries and call-ups, he found himself in and out of the lineup and at multiple positions.
