BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates held Daniel Nava out of Wednesday’s workout as he continues to deal with soreness in his lower back.
“He is rehab-only,” director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said. “We’ll take his symptoms as they present themselves daily and get him back into the field activities as such.”
The Pirates discussed a different spring progression for Joe Musgrove after acquiring him, Tomczyk said. Musgrove experienced discomfort in his right shoulder this past weekend and has not resumed throwing. He pitched an extra month while in the playoffs with the World Series champion Houston Astros.
