The Pirates this morning announced they brought former bench coach Gary Varsho back into the organization, hiring him as a pro scout.
The club also announced the hiring of Andrew Lorraine, who was formerly a pitching coach in the Seattle Mariners farm system, as a pro scout.
Varsho served as John Russell’s bench coach from 2008 until August 2010, when Russell and GM Neal Huntington fired him. He had been a pro scout for the Los Angeles Angels since 2012.
Lorraine’s LinkedIn profile page lists him as a pro scout for the Pirates since October.
