Pirates Hire Eric Munson as Indianapolis Hitting Coach

It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Pirates have hired Eric Munson as their new hitting coach for Triple-A Indianapolis. Alex Stumpf broke the news, also noting that 2021 hitting coach Jon Nunnally will remain in the organization.

The Pirates have hired Eric Munson as Indy's hitting coach. Munson played parts of nine MLB seasons and has been running a baseball academy over the past 8 years.

Jon Nunnally, who was the AAA hitting coach last year, will remain with the organization in a new role, per source.

Munson was a first round draft pick (taken third overall) in 1999, who played parts of nine seasons in the majors between 2000 and 2009, seeing time with the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Oakland A’s.
