The Pirates teamed up with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank again Monday, helping to distribute food to 1,000 Pittsburgh families at the Food Bank's headquarters in Duquesne.
According to Charlese McKinney, who lead the distribution for the Food Bank, it was one of their largest drive-up events they have had at that site, though they did expect to have some left over.
"For once, when you don't hit your target, it's a good thing," McKinney said.
Quite the rarity in baseball.
Another good thing to come out of this event: The Food Bank has seen some demand die down over the past few weeks, so they will not host a distribution next week at Duquesne.
