After his previous start, a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, Jameson Taillon was frustrated. He had been one pitch away from getting out of a tough second inning a week ago, but didn’t manage to escape it.
There was some bad luck and questionable defense that game, so while Taillon couldn’t brush off the poor outing, he didn’t think he needed to make wholesale changes. He said he needed to chew on it for a night, get to work the next day and try to move on.
“You have to just tell yourself that I don’t need to go back to the drawing board and change a bunch of things,” he said at the time.
