Pirates fall to Cardinals in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Yairo Munoz’s game-winning home run in the ninth inning erased a three-run Pirates lead and sent them to a 10-8 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday at Busch Stadium.

Felipe Vazquez allowed five runs in the ninth inning without recording an out. Harrison Bader led off with a double. A Sean Rodriguez error put Tommy Pham aboard, and Vazquez walked Marcell Ozuna.

Luke Voit, whom the Cardinals promoted earlier Thursday, hit a two-run single. Munoz hit the first pitch he saw, a fastball in the middle of the plate, into the grass in dead center field.
