Pirates extend Searage, eight other major league coaches through 2017

The Pirates today announced they have agreed to contact extensions with manager Clint Hurdle’s entire major league coaching staff, including acclaimed pitching coach Ray Searage, that will last through 2017.

“We are very pleased to maintain the continuity and quality of our major league coaching staff through at least the 2017 season,” general manager Neal Huntington said in a statement. “This is a group of quality, talented baseball men who make our organization better each day.”

Among the nine men extended were Searage, bench coach Dave Jauss, assistant Brad Fischer, first-base coach Nick Leyva, third-base coach Rick Sofield, hitting coach Jeff Branson, assistant hitting coach Jeff Livesey, bullpen coach Euclides Rojas and bullpen catcher Heberto Andrade.
