PHOENIX — It was hard to envision an uglier game for the Pirates than their 9-5 loss to the Diamondbacks Monday, when they surrendered a five-run lead in the seventh and eighth and lost, 9-5.
Monday, meet Tuesday.
In another bizarre game characterized by bad fielding and poor pitching — this time, by both starters and relievers — the Pirates lost to the Diamondbacks, 13-8, at Chase Field. The game was defined for the Pirates by an ugly first inning, in which they committed three errors, including two on one play, and allowed the Diamondbacks to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
