The Pirates on Wednesday called up right-handed reliever Angel Sanchez from Class AAA Indianapolis and optioned righty Edgar Santana to the Indians.
Sanchez has a 3.74 ERA and one save in 39 appearances in Class AAA this season. He missed the 2016 season due to Tommy John surgery.
Santana, who was called up Tuesday after George Kontos and Joaquin Benoit were placed on the disabled list, has a 2.77 ERA in 52 innings at Class AAA. He made his Pirates debut June 10 and appeared in nine games, allowing five earned runs in 7u2154 innings.
