Pirates break losing streak with 6-4 victory against Mets

NEW YORK — Something has to give in Queens this week, right? Somebody has to get on track. The Pirates came to town to face a New York Mets team whose struggles in many ways resemble their own. The status quo could not stand.

The Pirates struck first. Gregory Polanco and Josh Bell homered during a 6-4 victory at Citi Field Monday. The new top of the Pirates’ lineup produced five runs. The victory was not without late-game angst, but the losing streak ended.

The Pirates entered Citi Field having lost five games in a row, in fourth place in the NL Central with a 36-41 record.
