Pirates beat Phillies, 1-0, on Marte's single in 13th inning

Starling Marte snuck a seeing-eye, walk-off single past two diving Philadelphia Phillies infielders with two outs in the 13th inning, and Chris Stewart rumbled home to score the only run of the game as the Pirates triumphed, 1-0, in a game that ended at 1:06 a.m. Saturday at PNC Park.

The Pirates (33-27) entered the night 0-6 in extra-inning games. The top of their order — outfielders Gregory Polanco, Marte and Andrew McCutchen — was 2 for 19 with five strikeouts and two infield singles before Marte singled off right-hander Dustin McGowan in the 13th.

A crowd of 33,740 showed up at the ballpark Friday, and most waited through an 86-minute rain delay as a line of showers swept through before first pitch and drenched the diamond.
