Pirates beat Giants, 5-2

SAN FRANCISCO — Jordy Mercer homered for the second consecutive day, Francisco Liriano pitched seven solid innings and the Pirates won, 5-2, Wednesday to sweep the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

Jose Tabata hit an RBI single for the Pirates, who won for the 11th time in 13 games. Liriano (3-4) held the Giants to one run and four hits in seven innings and struck out six.

Mercer went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, and also made a key unassisted double play to diffuse a Giants scoring chance. In his past nine games he is hitting .
