Pirates Bats Explode in St. Louis, Take Opener in Series

The Pirates, coming off of a four game skid which included a series sweep in Milwaukee, took out some frustration early on and tagged Cards starter Carlos Martinez for four runs and seven hits in five innings. Pirates starter J.A. Happ was the story of the night going seven innings, allowing just three hits no runs. Happ had eight strikeouts and no walks.

In Happ's last five starts, he has pitched 30.0 innings, and allowed just 2 ER (.60 ERA). He has 26 k's and just five walks in those starts and the team is 5-0 in those games.
