Chad Kuhl pitched his best in the final inning of his latest start. After three uneven outings, and five innings dancing around baserunners, Kuhl shut the door on the Colorado Rockies in the sixth inning of Wednesday’s 10-2 victory at PNC Park.
The Pirates (12-6) avoided the sweep and remain in first place. They now head to Philadelphia for four games against the surprising Phillies.
Kuhl allowed one run, on Chris Iannetta’s second-inning home run, and four hits in six innings, the longest of his four starts. He walked three batters, putting a runner on base in every inning but his last and two men on in three of them.
