BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates on Friday morning announced the first round of cuts of spring training.
Right-handed pitcher Dario Agrazal, who made one relief appearance for the Pirates this spring, was optioned to Class AA Altoona. The 23-year-old Panamanian pitcher briefly reached Altoona last season before suffering a pectoral strain.
Luis Escobar, who pitched two-thirds of an inning with the Pirates this spring, was optioned to high-A Bradenton. The Colombian right-hander spent last year with low-A West Virginia and represented the Pirates in the Futures Game.
Both pitchers had been added to the 40-man roster in November, prior to the Rule 5 draft.
