PITTSBURGH -- More than a week ago, general manager Neal Huntington made it clear that he hoped to see outfielder Jose Tabata in a Pirates uniform again.
On Tuesday, the Bucs gave Tabata that chance, selecting his contract from Triple-A Indianapolis and placing him on the active roster.
In a pair of corresponding moves, the Pirates optioned reliever Wilfredo Boscan to Indianapolis and transferred infielder Justin Sellers to the 60-day disabled list.
Tabata joins the Bucs swinging a hot bat, having hit .352/.422/.396 through 28 games in Triple-A. He's reached base safely in 14 of his last 15 games, going 21-for-48 in his past 14 contests.
