Pirates add Neverauskas, Osuna to 40-man roster

The Pirates added right-hander Dovydas Neverauskas and first baseman/outfielder Jose Osuna to their 40-man roster Saturday. Both 23-year-old prospects would otherwise have been declared free agents early next week, as they have spent seven seasons in the minor leagues.

Neverauskas, from Vilnius, Lithuania, has developed into a promising bullpen option. He had a 3.10 ERA in 58 innings last season for Class AA Altoona and Class AAA Indianapolis and was selected to play for the World team in the MLB All-Star Futures Game last July in San Diego.

Neverauskas could become the first player born and raised in Lithuania to play in the majors.
