The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up shortstop prospect Kevin Newman and outfielder Jordan Luplow prior to Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs. To make room on the active roster, Jacob Stallings has been optioned to Indianapolis and Jordy Mercer was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left calf strain.
