BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates acquired outfielder Bryce Brentz from the Boston Red Sox Tuesday in exchange for cash.
Brentz, 29, played in the majors with the Red Sox in 2014 and ’16.
The Pirates put Rule 5 pick Nick Burdi, who had Tommy John ligament replacement surgery last May, on the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.
