The Pirates on Wednesday traded for lefty Josh Smoker, sending minor league lefty Daniel Zamora and cash to the New York Mets in exchange.
Smoker, 29, had a 5.11 ERA in 54 relief appearances in 2017. He struck out 10.9 batters per nine but walked 5.1 per nine.
The Pirates took Zamora, 24, in the 40th round in 2015 out of Stony Brook. He reached Class AA Altoona last year.
